Volkswagen Group introduced SFD, Schutz Fahrzeug Diagnose, as an additional security layer that restricts unauthorised access to protected vehicle control modules. When SFD protection is active, functions such as coding, adaptations, matching, basic settings, active tests and certain service procedures may be blocked until the system is authorised.

This is a ONE-TIME SFD token. It is not the 1 year VAG SFD subscription.

What is VAG SFD?

SFD, or Schutz Fahrzeug Diagnose, is Volkswagen Group’s Vehicle Diagnostic Protection system.

It provides an additional security layer between the diagnostic equipment, the vehicle, and the manufacturer. The system helps prevent unauthorised changes and provides information regarding access and modifications made to protected vehicle systems.

How Long Does the Module Stay Unlocked?

Unlocking SFD does not permanently remove the vehicle’s security protection.

Once a supported module has been successfully unlocked, the authorised session will normally remain available for up to approximately 90 minutes.

After this period, the ECU can automatically lock again and another SFD authorization may be required to continue performing protected operations.

Important: This product is a one-time token. It should not be confused with the 1 year SFD authorization subscription.

Your Autel diagnostic tablet’s normal software subscription must be within its validity period before purchasing the SFD token.

The SFD token and your normal Autel diagnostic software subscription are separate products.

This one-time token:

• Does not extend your standard software update period
• Does not add functions that your diagnostic device does not support
• Provides the applicable one-time VAG SFD authorization only

OEM Authorization App

SFD authorization is accessed through the supported Autel OEM Authorization functionality.

If the device has not previously purchased or activated any applicable Security Gateway function, the OEM Authorization area may appear blank until the required service is purchased and activated.
