Stuck EPB? Release it in seconds.
The AUTOOL BT10 EPB Release Tool is a compact 12V handheld tool that drives the electronic parking brake motor directly, so you can release or engage the rear calipers whenever the vehicle’s own EPB system won’t. Whether a car has come in on a flatbed with the parking brake locked on, an EPB control module has failed, or you simply need to wind back the rear pistons for a pad change without hooking up a scan tool, the BT10 gets the brake open with a single press.
Electronic parking brakes are now fitted to the majority of new vehicles, and when they fail the car is going nowhere – it can’t be pushed, towed on a dolly or moved out of a bay without dragging the rear wheels. The BT10 was built for exactly that situation. It runs off the vehicle battery or any 10–14V DC source, connects to the caliper motor via the supplied EPB terminal lead, and uses dual-channel forward/reverse motor control to retract or apply the caliper on demand.
Safety is built in. A power-on self-check with a green status light confirms the tool is ready, reverse-polarity protection guards against incorrect battery hook-ups, and a built-in 5A fast-blow fuse cuts the circuit instantly on overcurrent to protect both the tool and the caliper motor. An automatic 1-second cut-off prevents the motor from being over-driven.
Perfect for:
- Roadside rescue and towing – release a locked EPB after an accident or breakdown so the vehicle can be winched or towed without damaging the tyres or drivetrain.
- EPB fault-finding – release the brake quickly while you inspect the handbrake motor, sensors, switch or wiring.
- Workshops and dealerships – move vehicles that have locked their parking brake due to a flat battery, blown fuse or module failure.
- Brake service – retract the rear calipers for pad or disc replacement without a diagnostic tool.
Features
- One-button release and engage – rocker switch selects forward (release) or reverse (engage); no scanner, laptop or software needed.
- Dual-channel forward/reverse motor control – drives the EPB caliper motor in either direction.
- Universal 12V operation – works from DC 10–14V; clip the supplied battery clamps to the vehicle battery or a jump pack.
- Multiple circuit protections – reverse-polarity protection, overcurrent protection and a replaceable 5A fast-blow fuse.
- Automatic 1-second cut-off – prevents overload and protects the caliper motor.
- Power-on self-check – green indicator confirms correct connection and tool status before you operate.
- Compact and rugged – 102 × 55 mm main unit fits in a toolbox or glovebox; ideal for tow trucks and mobile mechanics.
- Backed by AUTOOL’s 3-year warranty on the main unit.

Important notes
- The BT10 is an emergency release/service tool – it is not a permanent repair for a faulty EPB system.
- Switch the ignition off and do not run the engine while the tool is connected.
- Always confirm the fuse is intact and the polarity is correct before use. Stop immediately if the motor rotates in the opposite direction to what you selected.
- Keep away from moisture, heat, and oil.
